Short Biography
Chenxi Shao (also known as Yuheng) (she/her/they/them) is an artist and scholar originally from Beijing, China, now based in Philadelphia. Working across sculpture and animation, her work explores humanism and environmental ethics through ecological and existentialist lenses.
Her works have been internationally showcased at various venues including Philadelphia City Hall, University of Pennsylvania, RBSA Gallery, the Fringe Arts, Flux Factory, Automat Gallery, The Galleries at Moore, Vox Populi Gallery, Worthless Studios, Atelier Gallery, and Tiger Strikes Asteroid Philadelphia.
Chenxi holds degrees in Plant Genetics and Breeding (B.S.), Interface Ecology (Ph.D.), and an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. Her accomplishments include receiving the Monument Lab MFA Fellowship at the Center for Public Art and Space in 2023. Chenxi currently serves as a curator of Philadelphia Sculptors and artist member of Vox Populi Gallery, where she will present a solo exhibition in 2027.
