Traces of labor: shifting boundaries in a changing world

In China, from childhood, people are all educated that labor is the most glorious, that has lasting and profound impacts on people's behaviors and self-awareness. I employed domestic labor material and biological material to make a set of sculptures in the form of blind corridor tile, transforming public facilities into private space during the quarantine of Covid-19. Then after the outbreak subsided, I brought these artistic blind corridor tiles back into public environment. I exhibited the artworks in various ways to critically question the situation of citizens as labor and its relationship with disciplinary society in the context of globalization of current social and environmental crisis.

在中国，人们从小就被教育劳动最光荣，这种意识形态对人们的行为习惯和自我认知有着持续而深远的影响。在新冠疫情隔离期间，我以本土劳动材料和生物材料制作了一组盲道砖形态的雕塑，把公共设施纳入到私人空间，并在疫情缓和之后，又把这些艺术化的盲道砖带回了公共环境中。我在布展形式上进行了多种尝试，来批判性和感性地思考作为劳动者公民的处境及其与社会规训的关系，在当今社会和环境危机全球化的语境中。
